2013 version begins with a joust and the winner being award with bragging rights, or something like that, after the joust a few members of each house fight but it’s seemed like something small since there was fewer people fighting and citizens around them aren’t as focused to the battle and continue walking unlike 1968 version where literally everyone is running for their lives as if it was the end of the world. The 1968 version did the same thing, the huge battle and everybody was either running away from the battle or fighting in it. He leaves somewhat calmly and eventually Juliet commits suicide.īack to the intro… the play begins with a battle between the Montagues and the Capulets. Meanwhile in 2013 version he leaves but isn’t as scared. It’s like saying “nope you’re not special missy.” Now when Friar Laurence sees that Romeo committed suicide and Juliet is still alive he’s urging her to leave and they get into a bit of an argument, Friar leaves like he’s scared. Leaving almost the whole place just to Juliet meanwhile in 1968 version all the corpses are lined up in rows and Juliet is among with the row, not just herself alone. The death scenes are different as well mostly because of the setting. Look at the difference, HD camera is awesome but does it have the same feeling to an original film? We’re all used to today’s HD camera but it’s not “old” and those “old” graphics are the ones that give the classic feeling.
The cameras weren’t so good in the 60s compared to today’s camera used for film but that old camera gave a certain effect in which you feel as if you’re in Verona at that time. The camera has a huge effect on the film. None of that was felt in the party scene for the 2013 version.
ROMEO AND JULIET MOVIES .123 MOVIE
2013 version didn’t have a classic feeling, I believe it was due to it’s scene time.ġ968, at the party the song “What is a Youth” gave the movie viewers a feeling of love and it gave me goosebumps. With taking good time the movie felt legit, there was more of a classic feeling. The difference is huge! The party itself took time with the dance, romeo laying his eyes upon Juliet, and their kissing scene. Like the scenes of the party and most famous, the balcony. Meanwhile the 1968 went through every scene at a good pace. Now I decided to leave out the 1996 version because it’s a modern day setting but it will come in handy for a comparison later on.Ĭarlie’s version of Romeo and Juliet was rushed! Everything passed by so quickly. Both 19 are based in Verona during the renaissance era. I analyzed both movies and made a movie compare and contrast points.
While watching the latest version I thought a lot about the 1968 version which is similar to the 2013 film, the 2013 film is a remake of the 1968 version, directed by Franco Zeffirelli. I’m a fan of the play and of the movies as well. Last night I watched Romeo and Juliet (2013 film) directed by Carlo Carlei.
